Terms of use

The ground rules for using Universal DM: use it lawfully, only download what you're entitled to, and understand that the software comes as-is.

1. Agreement

By downloading, installing or using Universal DM ("the software") or this website ("the site"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please don't use the software or the site.

2. Licence to use the software

You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Universal DM on computers you own or control. The software is provided free of charge.

You may not:

  • sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the software as your own product;
  • remove or alter copyright, licence or attribution notices;
  • reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the software except where applicable law expressly permits it;
  • use the software to break the law or to infringe anyone's rights.

3. Acceptable use — the important part

Universal DM is a general-purpose tool. It downloads files from addresses you give it; it does not decide what is legal for you to download. You are responsible for what you do with it.

  • Only download, save or share content you own or have permission to use — content you have a licence for, content in the public domain, or content the rights holder allows you to copy.
  • Respect the terms of service and the robots/automation rules of the sites you use.
  • Don't use the software to distribute malware, to attack or overload servers, or to obtain material that is illegal in your jurisdiction.
  • When you use torrent features, remember that BitTorrent is peer-to-peer: your IP address is visible to other peers, and seeding copyrighted material without permission may be unlawful where you live.

We do not condone copyright infringement, and we may decline support to anyone using the software for it.

4. Third-party content and services

Universal DM is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any website, streaming platform, file host or torrent indexer you might use it with. All third-party names and trademarks belong to their respective owners. We have no control over third-party content and accept no responsibility for it.

5. No warranty

The software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the software will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every download will succeed — download speed and success depend on servers, networks and content outside our control.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, files, bandwidth, profits or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the software or the site. Because the software is provided free of charge, our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid for it.

7. Your responsibility for your device and data

You are responsible for your own system: keeping backups, maintaining security software, and ensuring you have enough disk space for the downloads you start. Files you download are your responsibility once they are on your disk.

8. Updates and changes to the software

We may release updates, change features, or discontinue the software at any time. These terms may also be updated; the version published on this page, with its "last updated" date, is the version that applies. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the publisher of the software is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence.
